*To make your own waterproof matches, dip just the tips into melted wax. Apply a thin coating and allow to dry on a piece of waxed paper. Store in a tin or other waterproof container.
*For a sink that drips and keeps you awake at night: Tie a piece of string to the faucet, placing the end down the drain. When the water drips, it will flow down the length of the string, which will absorb enough to silence the maddening drip.
*Plain old cold tea will clean woodwork.
*Stuff wet shoes with newspaper to speed up the drying process.
*Put sugar cubes in your empty suitcase to absorb odors.
*Use a dry bar of soap on creaky doors or stuck drawers.

Her safe drain cleaner works good too - I used it at work and it even got rid of the tuna smell that wafted from the drain every time I run hot water down the sink!
1/4 c. baking soda - dump down drain
1/4 c. vinager - pour down drain
plug drain until bubbling stops
pour a pot of boiling hot water down drain (I used water run through a coffee maker!)
Mrs. Dunwoody's instructions are excellent! Thanks Steph!
Yeah! No more tuna smell!!!
HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!
wow, thanks colleen. i hadn't found that one. i'm so glad you shared it. does it unclog drains too? cause my upstairs bathroom sink needs unclogging.
It drains better than b4 - it used to fill up if you let the water run (with no stopper in it) but now the drain keeps up with the water flow. I say give it a shot - see for yourself. :)
yeah i'll try it!
Don't we all just feel sooooooo grown up now. I'm actually really interested in this stuff. We are way mature!!!!
