She does. I can tell her anything. She's so proud of me. Sometimes she's so proud that she exagerates about my accomplishments and abilities. Like the time I called home while living in Tx to fill her in on everything going on in my life. I told her about the worship CD I helped with by singing in the choir there, then launched into the big news that I would be touring for two weeks with the Newsboys to promote mission trips to concert goers on their tour. She then went right out and told everyone I was going to be a backup singer for the Newsboys! *sigh* I was so embarrassed. But between her pride in me and obvious confusion about the events I spewed out during a short phone call, I guess I can understand her mistake. I did have a bit of work cut out for me undoing that little misunderstanding once I moved back home though. ("So, wow! you were a backup singer for the Newsboys?!" "No...no. I promoted missions. Missions!)
Still, I couldn't ask for a better mom. She is my friend as well as my mother. That is why I announce with great pride that my mother is a blogger! So for all those times she has exuberantly spread mostly true (it really is her point of view) accounts of my latest accomplishments, I say my mom has the rockinest blog ever and everybody should rush right over there and welcome her to the blogosphere: www.pebblesofsand.blogspot.com
Afterall, everything I know about exaggeration I learned from her.

Stephenie, My dear daughter,
In my defense I must say you are just being modest. You don't realize how cool you really are. Is it not true that you have been on 2 ocean cruises to Nova Scocia & Alaska & are planning a 3rd trip back to Alaska?
You have lived in Texas a year, been to Mexico multiple times (at least 2) Lived in Indea a month, travelled the U.S. & went to the Bahamas.
You have cut 3 CDs-background vocal for the Teen Mania Worship CD (so your voice is one of hundreds-it's still on the CD!)The "Ted it's Time for Bed" intro song, and finally the Oasis Project "Dance" CD w/solo parts! You are worship leader (at least for 3 weeks) of a cutting edge congregation in Michigan-Sure it sounds grand & exagerating, but it's all true.
And about the "Newsboys." Didn't you travel with them? So you were a "roadie" with the Newsboys, visited with them, & had lunch with them. Didn't you, like, set up their background equipment?-You propably were singing while you worked-so...you were, kind of, a "background singer" for them.
I tell you Stephenie, you shine. Your name means crown & you are! If I was anointed in my youth-you have more that a double portion of mine-You shine brighter than I ever did.
You came from the darkness of my womb to illuminate & brighten the world-not only our little world-but I lift you high-I place you in my bow-I shoot you as an illuminating arrow to illuminate & brighten dark corners around the globe.
I really don't think I exagerate that much? Do I?
Sincerely,
Your Proud Mother,
MOM
xoxo
So true. I stand in awe sometimes. My friend is amazing and I know that her life has a grand purpose. Stephenie- You have pulled me out of dispair more times than I can count. You have encouraged me, had faith in me, saved me, and given me hope. No, your not my Savior, but you are my closest friend. I couldn't ask for a better one. I wouldn't.
stephie,
Your relationship with your mom inspires me to be a mom myself.miss yah!
We always knew Steph was super-cool, and now we know where she gets it from - it runs in the family!!
You two are a beautiful picture of a mother-daughter relationship!
It's so incredible that I'm seriously at a loss for words, which doesn't happen very often ;) (and my wife was NOT at a loss for tears when she read it).
see! see! she proved my point!
Your mother is definitely your cheering section. So nice that your mom is behind you all the way. What a mom!
