I don't know if anyone else has seen this or not, but while driving past Memorial Park I saw the same strange sight for the second time in the last couple of weeks. The first time I saw him I thought I was making it up. When I saw him yesterday though, I couldn't deny that it was certifiably strange, but true. I'll let you judge on the strangeness of it, and I would appreciate any information as to the reasoning behind it.
There is a man who stands facing the north bound traffic past Memorial Park. I'm always going south when he's standing there so I have to look in my rearview mirror to investigate. That is the reason why I thought my eyes were tricking me the first time I saw him. He wears a really nice suit that makes him look like a business man. My first impression was that he was on a strike because he holds a sign. In my rearview mirror though I was able to see the sign; it is white with a large black peace sign drawn on it. I got a really creepy feeling when I saw it. He just stands there by himself holding the sign.
Strange.

The older I get, the more I realize that there are some very strange people out there...granted, we all have our qwerks, but even some semingly "normal" people do some very abnormal things.
A demonstration/protest of one is quite unusual & he sounds lonely if he can't find anyone to stand out there with him.
I thought on it some more. I am not pro-war but I'm also not anti-war because "evil prospers when good men do nothing". It's significant that he's at Memorial Park - that's where plaques with the names of men who've died for our country are. He possibly thinks it adds to his statement for peace and he does have a point, yet in a way he dishonors those men who gave their lives so we could live as we do in a free country. He's free to protest because those men gave their lives for our freedom. Some also gave themselves because they believe in the right for all peoples to live free. Now I exit my soapbox.
boy colleen i never thought of it that way. i was thinking more along the lines of freakish cult person, but what you say makes more sense.
Wow- good thoughts Colleen! Puts alot into perspective for me. Hopefully he isn't reacting to some serious pain caused by losing a loved one (to war).
